Is pre-workout bad for you?
I take pre-workout before every lift. You might, you might not. Nobody can deny the extra boost it gives you, but is it bad for you?
Most pre-workouts contain caffeine, beta-alanine, betaine, creatine, and some kind of proprietary blend. None of these are harmful when taken in proper dosages. However, poor quality pre-workout may contain illegal compounds that are cleverly disguised, making it difficult for consumers to make informed decisions.
So, as long as you are healthy, dose appropriately, and stay away from Temu-brand pre-workout, you’ll (probably) be fine.
🔥 Gym Crush of the Week
📉 The Tragedy of “Manic Mike”
What happens when you take a ton of steroids and try to bench press 585 pounds?
Luckily for us, we don’t have to guess.
Mikey / Manic Mike tried to set a personal record earlier this week, and ended up tearing his chest. If you’re into that, you can see it happen here.
When your primary source of income relies on your ability to go to the gym, a muscle tear is bad news. He’s not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, but I’m sure he’ll make it back to the weights by early next year.
